Inspired by the life changing lessons learned in my own personal yoga practice and with the desire and passion to share the many benefits of yoga with my family and friends, I created "Yoga for Life" an organization meant to teach families and children how to live harmoniously in today's ever changing world.
The Yoga Sutras (sort of the yoga bible) created by Yogi "Patanjali" in the second century C.E. (Common Era), incorporates yoga into life, revealing yoga's true purpose: To maximize the potential of the self through the recognition of one's own inner goodness and the inner goodness in all others.
Patanjali divides the practice of yoga into eight parts, which he calls the Eightfold Path. This path consists of eight different aspects of living yoga, from physical exercises to breathing techniques to meditation to healthy values. These paths consist of eight different aspects of yoga practice including:
Yamas: A list of values or personal attitudes to cultivate
Niyamas: A list of healthy and productive habits to develop
Asanas: Yoga exercises for the body
Pranayama: Breathing exercises to energize and calm the body
Pratyahara: The practice of calming and stilling the senses
Dharana: Focusing techniques to increase concentration
Dhyana: Meditation
Samadhi: Spiritual communion
It is my intention to share this Eightfold Yoga Path "playfully" with as many families and their children as possible in order to allow them to navigate through each new day positively and mindfully. Learning the many techniques and methods of this Eightfold Path will make it possible for families to find and share inner peace personally and with those they encounter daily.
